Esprit incorporates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in our sustainability strategy.
The Sustainable Development Goals are an internationally recognized framework that aims to address three elements: economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection. This is part of a broader endeavor to eradicate poverty and strengthen peace and freedom.
There are 17 goals, accompanied by 169 specific targets. Businesses, alongside governments, are encouraged to implement actions to support these goals to achieve the framework’s ambitious goals by 2030. We at Esprit have decided to take on this challenge. In determining our approach, we kept all 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals in mind so that we can align our activities with a broader global sustainability agenda.
Our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals is accompanied by our transition to circular fashion. To achieve both, Esprit participates in carefully chosen multi-stakeholder initiatives. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition is one of our key programs. The coalition developed the HIGG Index, which allows brands and producers to measure and benchmark their social and environmental performance.
Esprit is also a member of the multi-stakeholder initiative Partnership for Sustainable Textiles. We follow the four strategic elements set by the partnership and its members.
