The New Esprit Menswear Direction
The New Esprit Menswear Direction
A fresh breeze in Esprit’s menswear department: Juan Antonio Chaparro, a close confidant of CEO Jose Manuel Martinez and the group’s Chief Supply Chain Officer since 2013 has now also attended to this highly potent member of the Esprit family with the objective of successfully occupying a growing market under realistic conditions. It was important to create a practical structure while at the same time starting a new dynamics.
For this aim, Chaparro intensively analysed brand and market – and drew the right conclusions. “We want to dress the normal, regular guys who want to look and feel good without having to pay too much attention to following the latest trends,” states Chaparro.
It is thoroughly considered and cleverly conceptualized how this is going to work: the collection is structured as a harmonious triad, designed to be intercombinable. ‘Esprit 1968’ is an artisan concept of contemporary denim interpretation featuring authentic indigo denim styles, paying homage to the company history and representing the brand’s workwear-inspired fashion standard.
It is flanked by the segment ‘Smart Casual’ that creates a dialogue between casual looks and formal elements, bridging the gap between leisurewear and business attire. It caters to the modern man’s need to look good from a.m. to p.m. without having to change his outfit.
Both are accompanied by the ‘Wardrobe Essentials’, claiming to become the core of every masculine wardrobe. Timeless and comfortable favourites, like trench coats, jeans, polos, shirts or simple sweaters, precisely finished with small details, made of selected, functional materials and in modest colours, meet the actual demands of the target group that predominantly looks for reliable, valuable everyday companions – not only for one season but far beyond, for individual combinations, for diverse occasions, 365 days a year. The new Esprit Men must-haves are a sensible investment into quality and style competence, an intelligent response to the requirements of modern times. ‘The Wardrobe Essentials’ are presented in a separate shop-system with a clear and reduced appeal to substantiate the concept’s simplicity and transparency once again. Furthermore, this edition is available for wholesale as of now.
Esprit Men’s Trends for Fall/Winter 2017
Substance and sovereignty, functionality and structure: these keywords apply to the leading trends for Autumn/Winter 2017.
Once more, in a world full of motion, changes and dynamics it counts to remember the roots and create solid references to history.
In the course of globalisation and detachment from space and time, traditional craft techniques gain a new significance. Iconic classics, like the safari jacket or the heavy woollen coat, and typical workwear- or utility-styles pay homage to the history of menswear and at the same time, in their innovative and detailed interpretation, stand for a forward-looking modernity. This applies both to smart business solutions and functional outerwear – most notably a casual indigo jacket with slim, cropped chinos or a minimalist raincoat made of polyurethane.
The collection’s authentic basic message is additionally substantiated by customized treatments or colouring processes, complemented by distressed- or destroyed-details, reminiscences to camouflage, a spectacular diversity of materials as well as a varied colour range of characteristic earthy and green nuances, atmospheric auburn or mustard, clear shades of blue and red as well as flexible neutrals.
